The Workplace Relations Commission found that James White & Company Unlimited Company t/a The King Thomond Hotel discriminated against and harassed Konsuela Daradics on the ground of race, and ordered €7,000 compensation. Adjudication officer Úna Glazier-Farmer dated the decision 11 April 2025.
Daradics said a colleague verbally abused her in staff accommodation provided as part of her employment and that she reported the incident to management. The adjudicator found the colleague’s comments amounted to race harassment and that the employer’s inadequate training and policies for staff accommodation contributed to discrimination. The hotel disputed aspects of her account and said managers had listened and begun looking into the complaint, but no formal investigation was completed before Daradics left.
