The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Sinead Allen €30,000 after finding her employer discriminated against her on gender grounds by reducing her hours while a male colleague doing like work had a separate hours arrangement. The WRC decision was dated 11 April 2025.

The WRC also found Allen was unfairly dismissed and upheld her complaint over missing employment terms. It awarded €3,188 for the dismissal and €2,392.74 for the terms complaint. The respondent disputed dismissing her, saying she stopped working voluntarily or had been laid off during a downturn. It denied gender discrimination but accepted it had not provided employment terms. The WRC said Allen had obtained alternative work on 14 March 2024 and found her effective dismissal date was 19 March 2024.
