The Workplace Relations Commission has directed Emerald Venture Capital Limited to pay former pizza chef Francis De Melo Silva €4,977.72 in compensation, less any lawful deductions, after finding his wages were not properly paid. The decision was dated 11 November 2024. Silva told the WRC that wages, holiday pay and one week’s notice pay remained unpaid when the business ceased trading. The company’s director said it had stopped trading in mid-June 2024 and was seeking a liquidator. The WRC found Silva’s evidence credible and upheld his complaint under the Payment of Wages Act.
