The Workplace Relations Commission found Chandan Kumar Mandal was unfairly dismissed by Alipam Limited t/a Camile Galway and awarded him €2,500. Adjudication Officer Louise Boyle’s decision was dated 9 December 2025.
Mandal, a head chef, said he resigned after late wage payments, a rent increase for staff accommodation and poor working conditions. The respondent did not attend the rescheduled hearing.
The officer found the employer’s failures to pay on time and provide acceptable conditions made Mandal’s resignation justifiable. The WRC also found €2,000 net was due in wages, awarded €2,820 for annual leave and €425 for public holidays. It rejected complaints about Sunday premium, maximum hours and banded hours; seven other complaints were withdrawn.
