The Workplace Relations Commission has ordered Patrick Gilsenan, trading as Call-a-Car, to pay Michael McKenna his statutory redundancy payment. Adjudication Officer Shay Henry dated the decision 7 January 2025. McKenna’s position was made redundant while he was on sick leave, and he received no redundancy payment. Gilsenan accepted that McKenna was entitled to the payment and said he had omitted to notify him because he was off sick and not on the payroll. The payment is to be calculated using employment from 25 November 2020 to 30 July 2023 and weekly pay of €240.
