WRC rejects Sorcha Rice’s redundancy claim after finding she resigned before clinic closure decision

The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Sorcha Rice’s claim for a statutory redundancy payment, finding she had resigned before The Sunflower Clinic decided to close. Adjudication Officer Máire Mulcahy’s decision was dated 13 May 2025. Rice argued the clinic’s closure entitled her to redundancy pay. The clinic said she resigned on 24 June 2024, before its decision to close; the adjudicator found her job still existed when she resigned and that she had not been dismissed. The complaint was disallowed.
