WRC rejects Janson Kelebeng’s race discrimination and harassment complaint against Mitie

The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Janson Kelebeng’s complaint that Mitie Facilities Management Limited discriminated against him on racial grounds over promotion and working conditions, or harassed him at work. Adjudication Officer John Harraghy dated the decision 22 November 2024. No award was recorded. Kelebeng said his manager discouraged him from applying for a supervisor role, treated him unfairly over cleaning duties and did not resolve his grievance. Mitie denied discrimination and harassment and said it investigated the grievance. The adjudicator found Kelebeng had not established facts sufficient to raise a prima facie case of race discrimination and found no evidence linking his concerns to race.
