WRC dismisses Aleksandar Lucic’s unfair dismissal complaint on jurisdiction grounds

The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Aleksandar Lucic’s unfair dismissal complaint as not properly founded under the Unfair Dismissals Act. Adjudication Officer Michael McEntee’s decision was dated 12 May 2025. Lucic complained of constructive dismissal from his role as a senior technology manager. Manakau Limited argued the WRC lacked jurisdiction because he was neither domiciled nor ordinarily resident in Ireland during the contract. The adjudicator found that EU rules did not override the Act’s restriction and said redress had to be sought in the ordinary courts.
