The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Gerard Hensey’s complaint that The Health Service Executive paid him less than colleagues doing the same porter duties because of his civil status. The decision was dated 20 January 2025. Hensey said management had told him his position was advertised incorrectly and that he lost a pay upgrade. The HSE said it evaluated his role and sought to move him to the nearest point on the multitask-assistant scale, taking his shift allowance into account. The adjudication officer found no causal connection between the pay treatment and Hensey’s civil status.
