WRC awards €3,000 after finding Airtastic Cork discriminated against minor

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Airtastic Cork Limited discriminated against A Minor by refusing him entry to its inflatable play area because of his disability and failing to provide reasonable accommodation. The WRC directed the company to pay €3,000 compensation in a decision dated 22 October 2025.

Airtastic said staff refused entry on health and safety grounds and offered bowling as an alternative. The complainant’s father said the child had attended the venue before and offered to arrange staff training.

The adjudication officer found no supporting evidence for the safety justification or that the company had engaged with the child and his parents to assess his needs. Airtastic was also directed to review its health and safety policies and training to include reasonable accommodations.
