WRC rejects Jon Herbert's redundancy payment appeal

The Workplace Relations Commission disallowed Jon Herbert's appeal for a redundancy payment from O'Callaghan Transport Limited. The decision was dated 6 August 2024. Herbert said he had been notified of redundancy and was not offered a redundancy payment. The company said it secured new contracts and no redundancies took place, and that Herbert resigned on 7 April 2024. It said he was offered three alternative truck runs, which he refused. The adjudication officer found Herbert had voluntarily resigned and was not made redundant, so he was not entitled to a redundancy payment. The appeal was disallowed.
