The Workplace Relations Commission found that Wendy Dutton’s position at Pizza Shack Limited was redundant when the business closed on 18 January 2024, and awarded her €1,000 compensation for unpaid annual leave. Its decision was dated 25 February 2025. The WRC also found Dutton entitled to a redundancy lump sum, subject to her having been in insurable employment during the relevant period. The company had argued that she remained on lay-off and had been offered alternative work; the WRC rejected its lay-off position. It found the company had produced no working-time or annual-leave records, upholding the annual-leave complaint.
