WRC rejects engineer’s discrimination and harassment complaints against technology company

The Workplace Relations Commission found an engineer’s disability discrimination and harassment complaints against a technology company not well founded, and declined jurisdiction over two further complaints. Adjudication Officer Ewa Sobanska dated the decision 19 March 2025.

The engineer said payroll, tax, pension, holiday and benefits errors during and after long-term illness caused distress and amounted to discrimination and harassment. The company accepted that administrative errors occurred but denied they were linked to disability.

The officer found no evidence that the engineer was treated less favourably than a person without a disability, and that the errors did not establish disability-related harassment. She found that a settlement agreement, signed after the engineer received legal advice, compromised the two later complaints. The merits of those complaints were not decided.
