WRC refuses extension for Andrew Cooney’s late redundancy claim

The Workplace Relations Commission refused to extend the time limit for Andrew Cooney’s statutory redundancy payment claim against Blackwell And Wright Senior Care Limited T/A Home Instead Senior Care. The decision, dated 5 July 2024, said the complaint was out of time; the merits were not decided. Cooney’s employment ended on 28 February 2022, and the WRC received his complaint on 9 February 2024. The adjudication officer found he had not established reasonable cause for the delay, so the claim could not proceed.
