The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has directed Duke Marketing Ltd. to pay Graham Fitzpatrick €7,000, less lawful deductions, after finding his wages complaint well founded. Adjudication Officer Conor Stokes issued the decision, dated 1 May 2024.
Fitzpatrick said he had not received wages for December 2023 or the first two weeks of January 2024, along with notice pay and payment for 10 days of holidays. He calculated his wages shortfall at €4,200. The company did not attend the hearing.
The adjudicator found that the respondent knew about the hearing and chose not to attend. He accepted Fitzpatrick’s evidence and supporting revenue documents, and found that the company had left him €7,000 short in wages. The award is compensation, less any lawful deductions.
