Kieran Holloway was awarded €615.38 compensation after a WRC adjudication officer found his wages complaint partly well founded. The decision was dated 7 October 2024. Holloway, a mobile sales representative based in Wexford, claimed unpaid wages and expenses. He said the parties had agreed he would be an employee on a €48,000 annual salary; Jc Electrical And Security Ltd argued he was a self-employed contractor. The officer found both sides intended an employment contract. The officer upheld the wages claim but excluded the expenses, which did not count as wages under the Act. The award was reduced by one third because Holloway had sought to split payment between PAYE and his company.
