WRC dismisses Andrew O’Connor’s notice-pay claim as out of time

The Workplace Relations Commission found it had no jurisdiction to hear Andrew O’Connor’s claim for one month’s notice pay from Eolas Recruitment because it was filed outside the statutory time limit. Adjudication officer Orla Jones’s decision was dated 8 August 2024; the merits were not decided. O’Connor said the notice was due under his contract and cited financial pressure and difficulty obtaining legal advice to explain the delay. The WRC found those reasons did not justify an extension of the filing deadline.
