The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Martina McGrenaghan €1,600 compensation after finding her employer failed to provide written employment terms. The decision was dated 25 April 2024. McGrenaghan also received €1,391 in net wages for unlawfully withheld pay. McGrenaghan worked as a driver for Ray Carrigy T/A Ray Carrigy Coach Hire from May to July 2023. Carrigy accepted that no written terms had been issued and that money remained unpaid. The Adjudication Officer found the employer could not justify withholding wages because of concerns about her conduct or attitude. The expenses portion of her claim was not well founded because expenses are not wages under the legislation.
