WRC orders John O Shea Building & Renovations Ltd to pay statutory redundancy

The WRC found Sean McGarry entitled to statutory redundancy pay and ordered John O Shea Building & Renovations Ltd to make the payment within 42 days. The decision was dated 30 April 2024. McGarry worked as a building labourer from 7 February 2011 to 13 January 2023. He said he had tried to secure the payment from his employer and its liquidator. The company was in liquidation, and neither it nor the liquidator attended the hearing. The adjudication officer was satisfied the respondent had notice. The entitlement was based on a 40-hour working week and weekly wages of €824.69. The statutory payment was to be made within 42 days of the decision.
