WRC awards Rory Walsh €1,716 in minimum-notice complaint against company in liquidation

The Workplace Relations Commission found Rory Walsh’s minimum-notice complaint well founded and awarded him €1,716. It also allowed his redundancy appeal and awarded a lump sum based on his employment dates and gross weekly pay of €858, subject to the employment being insurable. The decision was dated 20 September 2024. Walsh said he had received neither redundancy payment nor minimum notice after his employment ended. Eugene Barrett Ceiling's And Partitions Ltd (in liquidation) and its liquidator did not attend the hearing. A separate Payment of Wages Act complaint was dismissed as not well founded because it duplicated the minimum-notice complaint.
