The Workplace Relations Commission found Stephen Monahan entitled to a statutory redundancy payment after the taxi business where he worked closed. The decision was dated 3 April 2024. Monahan’s employment ended on 31 July 2023 after he had worked for the business since March 2001. His employer, Patrick Gilsenan trading as Call A Car, accepted that he was made redundant and said he could not pay the entitlement. The WRC based the entitlement on his employment dates and gross weekly pay of €645, subject to the statutory limit.
