WRC disallows Pauline Shaughnessy’s late redundancy appeal

Pauline Shaughnessy’s appeal for a statutory redundancy lump sum after Corrigkids closed was disallowed by the Workplace Relations Commission, which found the claim out of time and no reasonable cause to extend the deadline. In a decision dated 4 December 2024, the adjudicator found Shaughnessy’s employment ended when the business closed in August 2022. Her October 2022 message asking about redundancy was a question, not a written claim. The adjudicator said the claim was made outside the 52-week period and found no reasonable cause to extend it.
