The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) dismissed Michael Sheill’s complaint against the Medical Council of Ireland, finding it outside its jurisdiction. Adjudication Officer Pat Brady dated the decision 11 March 2025. Sheill alleged that the Council discriminated against him on sexual-orientation and disability grounds when considering his application for medical registration. The WRC found that the complaint was lodged outside the six-month time limit without reasonable cause, that the sexual-orientation issue had already been considered by the High Court, and that registration decisions were not a service covered by the Equal Status Acts. It did not decide whether discrimination occurred. No monetary award was recorded.
