WRC dismisses HAP discrimination complaint on notification issue

The Workplace Relations Commission found it had no jurisdiction to hear Abay Zhaigaliyev’s complaint against Home Club Limited, after finding he had not shown that he notified the company in writing as required before seeking redress. The decision was dated 11 March 2025. Zhaigaliyev alleged that the landlord’s agent signed a Housing Assistance Payment form for his mother but refused to sign one for him. Home Club said it acted as the landlord’s agent, had a HAP tenancy with his mother, and had received no tenancy request from him. The WRC did not decide whether discrimination occurred.
