WRC rejects €12,000 wages claim after finding complainant was not an employee

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Rodrique Rizk was not an employee of Layer Digital Solutions and ruled his €12,000 Payment of Wages Act claim not well founded. The decision was dated 20 March 2024. Rizk said he had not been paid for June to August 2023 and had signed invoices for that period. The respondent did not attend the hearing, but the adjudicator was satisfied it had been notified. The contract described Rizk as a consultant supplied by a company contractor. As he was not an employee, the adjudicator found he could not pursue the claim under the Act.
