The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found it had no jurisdiction to hear Grace Broderick’s unfair dismissal complaint because she referred it more than 12 months after her employment ended. The merits were not decided. In a decision dated 7 May 2024, the WRC said Broderick’s employment with Tesco Ireland ended on 30 June 2022, but she submitted her complaint on 30 September 2023. The law allows six months to bring a claim, with an extension of up to 12 months where reasonable cause prevented filing within the initial period. Broderick had worked as a line manager and said she was constructively dismissed.
