The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Veracity Managing Partnerships Limited to pay electrician Ciaran Ó Heafa €1,350 net compensation for two weeks of unpaid wages. In a decision dated 20 February 2024, the WRC also found he was entitled to a statutory redundancy payment, subject to his PRSI contribution status.

Ó Heafa told the hearing that he had not been paid for the final two weeks of his employment in July and August 2023, and that the employer had stopped operating at his workplace. The company did not attend; the adjudication officer relied on Ó Heafa’s uncontradicted evidence and found the unpaid wages were an illegal deduction. He had worked for the company for more than two years.
