WRC rules Seamus Roche’s Cartamundi redundancy claim out of time

The Workplace Relations Commission ruled that Seamus Roche’s redundancy claim against Cartamundi Ireland Ltd was out of time. The merits were not decided. Roche said he remained employed until the company closed in August 2023 and sought redundancy entitlements. Cartamundi said his employment had ended by 2006 at the latest, and that public holiday payments continued in error. The WRC found his employment ended in 2006, after he had been told it would end eight weeks after August. It found the complaint, submitted in August 2023, was outside the statutory time limit. The decision was dated 21 February 2024.
