The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Vita Dobson €2,703 after finding she was unfairly dismissed by Two Pups Coffee Two Pups Coffee. The WRC also awarded her €675.75 for the employer’s failure to provide written employment terms. The decision was dated 4 April 2024.
Dobson said she expected to return to her chef job after leave, while the employer said she had resigned. The adjudication officer found the messages between them could be interpreted in different ways and said the employer should have clarified whether she was resigning. Dobson found work on similar terms within a few weeks, which the officer considered when setting the dismissal award. Her separate working-time complaint was withdrawn at the hearing.
