The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has awarded Madhushree Jayanna €18,125 after finding that Layer Digital Solutions Limited T/A Ubanquity Systems Limited unlawfully withheld wages and holiday pay. The decision was dated 19 February 2024.
Jayanna told the WRC she was owed two months’ salary, payment in lieu of notice and holiday pay. Her monthly salary was €5,000, and she sought €15,000 for salary and notice plus €3,125 in holiday pay. The respondent did not attend the hearing.
She provided payslips, bank statements and a termination notice. The adjudicator found the employment relationship established, considered Jayanna a credible witness, and concluded that three months’ salary and holiday pay had been unlawfully deducted. The WRC directed compensation of €18,125, less any lawful deductions.
