The Workplace Relations Commission directed Keegan Quarries Ltd to pay Amanda Byrne €1,961.55 for three weeks of unpaid contractual notice. The decision was dated 9 January 2024. Byrne resigned on 24 July 2023 to take another job and said she was willing to work her four weeks’ notice, but was sent home after a handover. The WRC found the company had not paid three weeks she was prepared to work, making the deduction unlawful. It found her separate minimum notice complaint not well founded because she had already received the statutory minimum notice. The payment was directed under her contract, not as a separate minimum notice award.
