A Workplace Relations Commission adjudication officer awarded Keith McEntee €1,800.80 for unpaid annual leave after his employer’s butcher’s shop closed. The decision, dated 9 July 2024, also found that he was underpaid the minimum wage during the period covered by the claim and awarded €509.12 in back pay plus €750 compensation. The officer upheld claims for two weeks’ pay in lieu of notice, unpaid public holiday entitlement, his final working day and a week in hand. McEntee was also found entitled to a statutory redundancy payment, based on gross weekly pay of €610.20 and subject to the relevant insurable-employment rules. His employer, Andrew Brereton, did not attend the hearing.
