The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Corach International Transport Ltd to pay Niall O’Neill €2,000 in compensation, the largest single award in his case. The decision was dated 19 December 2023. O’Neill, a long-haul driver, brought ten complaints about wages, leave, public holidays, working-time information, employment terms and road transport rules. The company did not attend the hearing or respond. The WRC upheld seven complaints, including an order for €1,650 in unpaid wages and compensation of €2,000, €750 and four awards of €500. Three complaints about road transport working-time rules were found not well founded because O’Neill provided no specific evidence. Compensation is money paid for a breach; the €1,650 order repays wages found to have been unlawfully deducted.
