The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Dr Toruns Clinic Avicenna Medical Ireland Ltd to pay Harmandeep Singh €1,920 gross after finding it failed to provide required written terms of employment. The decision was dated 9 January 2024. Singh worked as a practice manager for the clinic from 22 May to 22 June 2023, for 16 hours a week at €30 an hour. He said he repeatedly asked for a written statement of his employment terms but did not receive one, and that the dispute contributed to a stressful workplace before he resigned. The clinic did not attend the hearing, but the officer was satisfied it had notice. The officer found breaches of requirements to provide both a full statement and a five-day statement of employment terms. The €1,920 award was equivalent to four weeks' pay; the officer said separate compensation was not due for each breach.
