WRC rejects four complaints by Mayo County Council fire officer

Four complaints by Ross Forde, an Assistant Fire Officer employed by Mayo County Council, were found not well founded by the Workplace Relations Commission. The decision was dated 24 March 2025, and no award was recorded. Forde said he had been placed on the wrong pay-scale point despite nine years of earlier fire service with Galway County Council. He also claimed €494.30 was owed, said he had not been told his previous service would not count towards increments, and alleged less favourable treatment because he had previously worked part time. The adjudicator found the contract clearly set his starting salary at €40,422 a year and found no unlawful deduction on the ongoing pay-scale claim. The €494.30 claim concerned a payment outside the period the WRC could consider; the decision also records it as not well founded. The officer found no contract change and noted Forde confirmed that he had worked full time for the Council.
