The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found Verônica Araújo Cruz’s race discrimination complaint against Triglen Holdings Ltd. was out of time and that it had no jurisdiction to determine the substantive case. The decision was dated 15 November 2023; the merits were not decided. Cruz worked as bar staff for the company from August to September 2022 and alleged discrimination in her working conditions. The company denied the claim. Her complaint was received in May 2023, more than six months after the last alleged act. Cruz said emotional distress, communication difficulties and not knowing about the WRC had contributed to the delay. The adjudication officer refused an extension of time.
