The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) directed Avia Capital Leasing Limited to pay Anton Gremin €2,992 for two weeks’ notice pay. In a decision dated 5 April 2024, it also allowed his redundancy claim, awarding a statutory lump sum subject to his having been in insurable employment during the relevant period. Gremin said he was made redundant without receiving payment or his statutory notice entitlements. The company said sanctions and frozen funds had left it unable to pay employees or former staff. The WRC found that Gremin had been made redundant without a redundancy payment and had received neither notice nor pay in lieu. The statutory lump sum was based on gross weekly pay of €1,496. His complaint about terms of employment was withdrawn.
