The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Tesco Ireland Ltd to pay Jolanta Olszowska €2,000 after upholding her complaint that her contractual hours were not transferred correctly. In a decision dated 12 December 2024, adjudication officer Louise Boyle found Tesco had not made sufficient enquiries into conflicting evidence about Olszowska’s hours before issuing a contract for 30–35 hours a week. Olszowska said her previous contract provided for 40 hours; Tesco later accepted that her contract should reflect 40 hours.

The complaint concerned the transfer of employment terms when Tesco became Olszowska’s employer. Two related complaints were dismissed: the WRC found insufficient evidence that Tesco failed to observe terms in a collective agreement or failed to inform employee representatives about transfer details.
