The Workplace Relations Commission has ordered Avia Capital Leasing Limited to pay Alexandra Skavronskaja €20,983 for unpaid wages and notice pay, and awarded her a statutory redundancy lump sum. The decision was dated 11 April 2024.
Skavronskaja worked as a senior finance manager from January 2012 until her employment ended in April 2022. The company said sanctions and the loss of access to its accounts left it without the resources or means to pay former employees.
The adjudicator found that she had received no redundancy payment and allowed her claim for a statutory lump sum, subject to her having been in insurable employment. The decision gives her gross weekly pay as €1,575 for calculating that entitlement; it does not state the lump-sum figure.
The WRC also found that the company had not shown it gave her the required written employment information and ordered it to pay €1,575. On her wages complaint, the adjudicator found an illegal deduction and ordered €11,533 in unpaid wages, plus €9,450 for six weeks’ notice pay. Those two payments make up the stated €20,983 total for that complaint.
