Rose Fitzsimons was awarded €1,000 gross compensation for four weeks’ notice after the shop where she worked closed. The WRC decision, dated 18 September 2023, also found she was entitled to a redundancy lump sum. Fitzsimons said she had not received redundancy pay or statutory notice when the shop closed. The respondent, Ten Textiles t/a Bed Linen Warehouse, did not attend the hearing. The adjudication officer found the closure ended her employment on 31 December 2022 and entitled her to redundancy calculated using her employment dates and €250 gross weekly pay, subject to insurable employment. All five complaints were found well founded.
