WRC rules Ralph Utto’s redundancy dismissal was not unfair

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Ralph Utto’s role was phased out through redundancy and that his dismissal by 3Fe Coffee Ltd was not unfair. Adjudication Officer Conor Stokes dated the decision 16 January 2025. Utto argued the head chef took over his duties and that he had little time to consider lower-paid alternatives. The company said restructuring removed his role and that he declined alternative positions. The officer accepted that the business had decided to operate differently and found the redundancy genuine.
