The Workplace Relations Commission found Ruth Naughton’s complaint against the Health Service Executive not well founded. The decision, dated 25 October 2023, concerned the full deduction of maternity benefit from her pay while she was on maternity leave from her one-day-a-week job. Naughton said the HSE deducted the full €250 weekly maternity benefit despite her part-time hours, while the HSE said its payroll practice deducted the full benefit and her other employer did not pay her during leave. The adjudicator found no evidence of less favourable treatment compared with other employees in similar circumstances.
