The Workplace Relations Commission found that Sarah McGuirk’s complaint over a disputed €10,000 bonus was not well founded. The decision was dated 10 January 2024. McGuirk said she was promised a €10,000 bonus for her first year at Rhenus Logistics Ireland and received €3,280. The company disputed that a guaranteed payment had been agreed, saying bonuses were discretionary and paid in March. The adjudication officer found the contract made the bonus discretionary and that eligibility would have required McGuirk to still be employed in March 2023. Her complaint under the Payment of Wages Act therefore failed.
