The Workplace Relations Commission directed Brian Keenan Decorators Ltd to pay Paul McDermott €3,120 in notice entitlements after finding his notice complaint well founded. The decision was dated 1 November 2023. McDermott worked for the company from March 2016 until he was placed on temporary lay-off in November 2022; his employment ended in January 2023. His gross weekly pay was €780. The respondent did not attend the hearing. The WRC also directed it to pay McDermott €1,560, equal to two weeks’ gross pay, for unpaid wages, and €624 each for four days of annual leave and four public holiday entitlements. It found the overtime element not well founded because McDermott gave no specific hours for the relevant period. The complaints table lists the notice claim as CA-00055212-004, but the Background and Decision call it CA-00055212-003.
