Alin Cirgea won four complaints against QIQ Enterprises Limited, with the WRC ordering €2,000 additional compensation for unpaid annual leave and other employment breaches. The decision was dated 23 August 2023.

Cirgea worked as a driver and manager from January 2020 until January 2023, earning €452 gross a week. He said he had no employment contract, was owed pay for annual leave and public holidays, and sought statutory redundancy pay. The respondent did not attend the hearing in Carlow, where Cirgea gave evidence.

The WRC allowed his redundancy appeal and found him entitled to a statutory lump sum calculated from his employment dates and weekly wage. It found the employer had breached the requirement to provide written employment terms and ordered €1,808 compensation. It also ordered €1,356 for three weeks of accrued leave, €2,000 additional compensation, and €452 for five public holidays worked.

His representative withdrew the unfair dismissal complaint, and several other complaints were withdrawn as duplications. The decision does not state the amount of the redundancy lump sum.
