The Workplace Relations Commission found a complaint by Katarzyna Mruklik-Iglinska against Ocwm Law Llp well founded and awarded her €1,496.45 after the firm deducted a maternity pay top-up from her final wages. The decision, dated 1 September 2023, concerned a top-up to statutory maternity pay that the firm said was repayable under its maternity policy if an employee left within six months of returning to work. Mruklik-Iglinska said she had not agreed to repay it. The officer found that the policy had been sent to her, but she had not been asked to sign the written undertaking required by the policy. The deduction therefore contravened the Payment of Wages Act.
