The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Harry O Donovan to pay William Moloney €2,910, equivalent to five weeks' wages. In a decision dated 29 September 2023, it also ordered €2,328 for penalisation after Moloney said his pay became erratic following an earlier WRC complaint.
Moloney told the WRC he had gone unpaid for five weeks and believed the payment problems followed his earlier complaint about payslips and a contract of employment. O Donovan did not attend the hearing or submit evidence, and did not contest Moloney's account. The adjudication officer found the complaints well-founded. The penalisation award was equivalent to four weeks' wages.
