The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Ahmed Elborhamy €3,074.92, equivalent to four weeks’ pay, after finding Aramark Catering failed to provide a written statement of his employment terms. The decision was dated 19 February 2024. Elborhamy, a chef paid €768.93 a week, said he was dismissed in June 2022 after hearing his name had been removed from the work roster. Aramark said it dismissed him in February 2023 after a disciplinary process over his failure to return from leave. The WRC found it had no jurisdiction over the unfair dismissal complaint because the dismissal occurred after he had referred it. His employment equality complaint was withdrawn. The award related to the missing written terms statement.
