WRC awards Klemens Meyer €1,711.50 over unpaid wages

The Workplace Relations Commission directed MSCS Specialist Construction Services to pay Klemens Meyer €1,711.50 for unpaid wages and a further €360.18 for public-holiday entitlement, plus €1,000 compensation, in a decision dated 30 March 2023. Meyer said his employment transferred to the company in January 2022 and ended on 24 March 2022. The WRC found that wages for 21 to 24 March and accrued holiday pay were properly payable. It also found he had not been paid for the public holidays on 17 and 18 March. The rain-gear deduction complaint was found not well founded because Meyer could not provide evidence of the deduction; the WRC also said it was outside the time limit. The respondent did not attend the hearing or provide a written statement, documents or submission.
