The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Loukas Anastasiadis €3,600 in unpaid wages after finding he was an employee of European Supporters Alliance Sd Europe, despite working under a consultancy contract. The decision was dated 13 February 2024.

Anastasiadis said he had worked for the organisation under successive contracts and received a fixed monthly fee. The respondent argued that he was an independent contractor and that expenses were not recoverable under the Payment of Wages Act 1991.

The adjudicator found that his working relationship met the criteria for employee status and that his contract had become one of indefinite duration. The claim was for €5,316.50, including expenses, but the Act did not cover those expenses. The WRC found that withholding the wages was not a lawful sanction and awarded €3,600 for his final month of employment.
